Reports are emerging that a plane carrying Zambia's Vice President, Dr. Mutale Nalumango, crashed shortly after take-off in Nakonde.

According to Chete FM, preliminary information indicates that the aircraft went down approximately 50 metres from the runway shortly after departure.

The Vice President has since confirmed that she is safe and in good condition.
